Jonathan Sergison

Graduated from the Architectural Association in 1989 and gained professional experience working for David Chipperfield and Tony Fretton before establishing Sergison Bates architects in 1996.

Jonathan Sergison has taught at a number of schools of architecture, including the Architectural Association in London, was Visiting Professor at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich and at the École Polytechnique Fédérale in Lausanne (EPFL), has served on a number of international architectural competition juries and as external examiner at the University of Cambridge.

He is currently Professor of Architectural Design at the Accademia di Architettura in Mendrisio, Switzerland and John T. Dunlop Professor of Housing and Urbanization at the Harvard Graduate Design School. In addition to his academic commitments, he lectures extensively both in the UK and abroad and writes regularly on architecture.

Stephen Bates
Stephen Bates, Sergison Bates architects Graduated from the Royal College of Art in 1989 and gained professional experience in London and Barcelona prior to establishing Sergison Bates architects in 1996.

Stephen Bates has taught at a number of schools of architecture, including the Architectural Association in London, was Visiting Professor at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich and at the École Polytechnique Fédérale in Lausanne (EPFL) and has served on many international architectural competition juries, including the Premis FAD and the Stirling Prize.

He is currently Professor of Urbanism and Housing at the Technische Universität in Munich and John T. Dunlop Professor of Housing and Urbanization at the Harvard Graduate Design School. In addition to his academic commitments, he lectures extensively both in the UK and abroad and writes regularly on architecture.

Mark Tuff
Graduated from the University of East London in 1994 and worked for Feilden Clegg Bradley before joining Sergison Bates architects in 1996. He was project architect on a number of Sergison Bates’ award-winning projects, including the Stevenage semi-detached houses and the Wandsworth mixed-use development project before becoming a partner of the practice in 2006.

Mark Tuff has been guest critic and lecturer at numerous Schools of Architecture in the UK and is currently running a design studio with Jonathan Hendry at the Department of Architecture of the University of Cambridge.
